Are you a Rails rockstar? A Ruby ninja? If so, then quit reading now. We’re not interested in grandstanding talkers. We’re interested in doers.
Still here? Good. We’re looking for a software engineer who actually knows how to build a real-world web application used by thousands of people every day. And, though your primary job will be building a world class analytics application in Ruby on Rails, you’ll be doing a lot more. On our engineering team, you’ll get down and dirty with a services architecture powered by Goliath, EventMachine, MongoDB, MySQL, Redis, Solr and other cool stuff. If you love turning hundreds of gigabytes of raw data into awesome features for users, then we want you.
Responsibilities
- Implement full functional components in a Ruby on Rails application across all parts of the MVC
- Work in a fast-moving, agile team of other developers to build large features in a rapidly changing environment
- Work with a front-end designer to implement UIs
- Build robust data processing services in a service oriented architecture
Qualifications
- BS in Computer Science or equivalent degree/work experience
- Extensive experience with Ruby and Ruby on Rails
- Experience developing with Ruby outside of Rails
- Excellent unit and functional testing skills
- A passion for working with data and making it understandable for users
- Working knowledge of HTML/CSS/JS
- Version control experience with Git
- Extreme attention to detail
Extra Credit
- Production experience with other languages (JVM-based languages such as Java, Scala or Clojure preferred)
- Experience with NoSQL tools such as MongoDB and Redis in production environments
- SQL experience that involves more than just using ActiveRecord finders
- Experience with social APIs especially Twitter, Facebook and YouTube
